[1ST ED] Nine Chains to the Moon

$500.00

First edition of R. Buckminster Fuller’s first book, published by J.P. Lippincott in 1938. A collection of thoughts, essays, and observations delineating Fuller’s anti-Malthusian view of material and demographic progress via technological ephemeralization—doing less with more, a la his Dymaxion projects. The title refers to the observation that the world population of humans, if stood one atop the other, would form a chain back and forth to the moon nine times. 8vo, hardcover with printed dust jacket, 408 pages plus two fold-out charts at the rear. Gentle bumping to extremities. Rubbing and soiling to edge-chipped dj, with small open tears at spine ends. A very presentable and collectible copy.
