[1st ed] S.C.U.M. Manifesto: Society for Cutting Up Men
First edition, first printing in book format (following a self-distributed mimeograph edition) of Valerie Solanas’s notorious and radically misandristic diatribe, now a part of the second-wave feminist canon. Published in 1968 by Olympia Press. With commentary by Paul Krassner and Maurice Girodias. The pictorial wrappers include a photograph of Solanas on the front cover and a mock up on the back cover of the New York Post front-page coverage of Solanas’s attempt on Andy Warhol’s life, later the impetus for the film I Shot Andy Warhol. 8vo (4.25” x 7”), wrappers, 112 pages. Scarce. Slight lean to spine. Front hinge weakened. Light chipping and rubbing to extremities, with creasing to front joint and corners.
