Handsomely produced type specimen book published in 1927 by American Type Founders Company as a supplement to their 1923 edition showcasing the Goudy Type Family originated by Frederick William Goudy (1865-1947), a devotee of William Morris, in the nineteen teens. “A showing of beautiful printing types composed in an interesting manner—simple yet attractive—and drawn by the creator of the original type design.” 4to, stiff wrappers, 123 pages including several fold-out pages, with a frontispiece engraving of Goudy by Clarence Hornung. A high water mark of American typography from the period in both design and production. With a 4-page advance proof dated May 1928 of of two type faces—Bulmer Roman & Italic—laid in. Slight lean to spine. Light bumping and chipping to extremities.
