Campanas (Inscribed with Furniture Drawings)
First edition monograph on the renowned Brazilian design team of Humberto and Fernando Campana, produced in conjunction with an exhibition at the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil, and published in 2003 by the just-established Editora Bookmark. A visual survey of the brother’s oeuvre to date with text by Humberto and Fernando and short essays by Paola Antonelli, Murray Moss, Marcos Marchetti, Ignacio de Loyola Brandao, Maria Helena Estrada, Marco Romanelli, Cristina Morozzi, Stephan Hamel, and Rodrigo Rodriguez. Large 8vo (7.75” x 9.5”), flexible pictorial boards in clear plastic dust jacket, 445 unnumbered pages, full-color photographic reproductions and some b/w illustrations. Primary text in English. Inscribed on the half-title page to previous owner and signed by both brothers with two furniture doodles—a Discos Sofa adjacent to Humberto’s signature and a Favela Chair adjacent to Fernando’s. A significant mid-career review of the brother’s “disruptive” design output, highly scarce with the signatures accompanied by drawings. Light bumping and rubbing to extremities, otherwise near fine.
