Catalog published in conjunction with an exhibition of James Lovera ceramics held at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento, CA, from July 22-October 8, 2006. Lovera (1920-2015) was a California potter who studied at the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco and with Margurete Wildenhain at Pond Farm. He is best known for his volcanic textural glazes on paper-thin porcelain vessels—a body of work resonant with the oeuvre of Gertrud and Otto Natzler—though his glaze treatments also include Asian inspired glazes in vivid colors. 8vo (9.75” x 10”), hardcover with embossed lettering and pastedown color photo. 46 pages showcasing 50 pieces illustrated with full-color photographs; checklist and partial CV at end. In near fine condition.
