Edward Wormley Designs For Dunbar: Market Notes January 1956

$250.00

Small format brochure published in January 1956 showcasing nearly 50 new Edward Wormley designs for Dunbar Furniture, presented at the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Highlights include the No. 5521 Easel, 5603 Arced Chair, 5604 Curved Sofa, 5609 Revolving Chair, 5634 Triangular Corner Table, 5642 Armless Chaise, and 5657 Long Sofa. The Market Notes function as supplements to the more elaborate catalogs put out periodically during the 1950’s, such as the 1956 Dunbar Book of Contemporary Furniture. Frequently, they are the only reference for a work with a short production run that failed to land in one of the more comprehensive catalogs. Small 8vo (6” x 4.5”), stiff printed wrappers, 59 pages plus 4 blank pages for notes, b/w reproductions of renderings. Each entry is presented with an image, a written description, and curatorial information including model number, materials, and measurements. A scarce item of design ephemera, and an important resource for researching and documenting Dunbar designs. Creasing to rubbed wrappers, light bumping and chipping to extremities. Limited foxing to front wrapper, not affecting interior.
