





























ICI Reflections Complete Set of Seven Prints
Complete set of seven prints commissioned by the Plastics Division of chemical giant ICI in 1971 as a promotional endeavor to show the potential of stamping foils in graphic design. The international roster of sponsored artists and designers includes Dieter Rot, Norman Ives, Armin Hofmann, Alan Fletcher, Enzo Mari, Pieter Brattinga, and Jean-Michel Folon. The designs were executed by four British manufacturers: Letraset, Milford Astor, Peerless, and Geo. M. Whiley, in foils based on Milinex, ICI’s polyester film. Each print was a reflective response to the poem Reflections by then poet Laureate C Day Lewis. Overall design by the renowned British graphic design firm Crosby/Fletcher/Forbes, soon to evolve into Pentagram. As issued, each of the prints comes in a mailing card envelope with foil number and is accompanied by a paper wrapper with the poem printed on one interior side and curatorial information on the other. Each print is presented on glossy card stock and with a bio on verso. Prints measure 9.75” x 9.75”; slipcase measures 10.25” x 10”. Price is for the complete set of seven. Prints are clean and bright with minor rubbing and bumping to extremities. Mailing envelopes show wear consistent with age and use (see photos).
