La Baule (Artist's Book by Marc Gobe inscribed to Thierry Despont)
Luxe, limited edition artist’s book in portfolio format by marketing and branding whiz Marc Gobe, consisting of ten loose copper-etched photogravures with scenes of the French seaside resort La Baule, printed on heavy, deckel-edged, handcrafted paper. Printed in an edition of 70 copies in 1993, this being copy number 13. Designed and produced under the direction of Luke Ives Pontifell of Thornwillow Press, with copper etchings by Lothar Osterburg hand-printed by Jan Mauler. Each loose etching is separated by a sheet of rice paper. 12 loose sheets in total, with a title page and introductory page by Gobe, contained in a 4to (8.75” x 12.75”) portfolio with ribbon ties, itself 7/8 clad in handmade paper. Each sheet measures 8.25” x 11.5”. With a warm handwritten inscription on the title page to renowned architect and interior designer Thierry Despont. Near fine. Note: This portfolio contains two duplicate (extra) photogravures, for a total of twelve--see images.
