Marcelo Bonevardi: Constructions and Drawings (Inscribed to Dore Ashton)
Exhibition catalog of mixed-media work by Latin American avant-garde artist Marcelo Bonevardi, published in 1989 by Mary-Anne Martin/Fine Art in association with Bonino Gallery. 8vo (8 × 10 inches), pictorial wrappers, illustrated in color and b/w. With an essay by Ronald Christ. Inscribed by Bonevardi on the title page to art critic Dore Ashton: “to Dore, with my warmest regards / Marcelo.” Ashton was an important early critical advocate for Bonevardi and wrote extensively on his work; her papers at the Archives of American Art include dedicated Bonevardi material. With two contemporary Mary-Anne Martin/Fine Art announcement cards laid in, for Bonevardi presentations at the 1989 ADAA Art Show and Chicago International Art Exposition. A significant association copy linking the Argentine-born artist with one of his principal American critical supporters. From the library of Dore Ashton. Light bumping and rubbing to extremities.
