Mathieu Mategot (Jousse Enterprise)
Early monograph on the French modernist designer Mathieu Mategot, featuring his celebrated and still prized “transparent metal” furniture and lighting, often with juxtaposed elements of blacks, whites, and bold colors (red, yellow, orange). Published in 2003 by Jousse Enterprise, with text in English and French by Philippe Jousse, Caroline Mondineu, Xavier and Patrice Mategot, Frederic Bodet, Mirela Grigorita, Rudy Ricciotti, Daniel Lebard, Jean Michel Wilmotte, Constance Rubini and Jasper Morrison. Organized into sections as follows: testimonials; select pieces including the Nagasaki and Copacabana chairs, the Kangarou and Orientable tables, and the Satellite and Bagdad lamps; Mategot and Jouve; museum and private collections; exhibitions including at Jousse Enterprise in winter 2002 and the Salon des Arts Menagers; tapestries; archival photographs featuring all manner of furnishings and accessories; and a biography and CV for Mategot. 4to (8.25” x 10.25”), stiff photographic wrappers with photographic dust jacket, 256 pages, lavishly illustrated in b/w and full-color. Long out-of-print, it remains the most coveted reference work on this designer. Binding somewhat weakened. Light chipping and creasing to extremities. Light rubbing and chipping to dj. Mild soiling to title page; contents otherwise near fine.
