Paul Rand Ephemera (4 items)
Four items of Paul Rand ephemera, featuring a 4-page accordion fold-out brochure from 1991 announcing UCLA’s Master Graphic Design Cover Series for their extension course catalogs with Rand’s inaugural cover/poster on the first page, along with a description of the program and a visual survey of some important Rand commissions on subsequent pages. Rand kick-started an enormously successful program that would go on to include work by Bradbury Thompson, Armin Hofmann, Ivan Chermayeff, Milton Glaser, Saul Bass, Takenobu Igarashi,, Deborah Sussman, Leo Leonni, George Tscherney, Henry Wolf, Lou Dorfsman, Seymour Chwast, Alsan FLertcher, Frank Gehry, and many others. A scarce and notable item of Rand ephemera. Also included in the present lot are a 1991 announcement card for a Keith Godard interview with Rand at the Cooper Union, an announcement card for a 1996 memorial for Rand at the Cooper Union, and a 2-sided invitation card to a 2015 Rand exhibition at the Museum of the City of New York titled “Everything is Design: the Work of Paul Rand. Measurement of the UCLA brochure fully open is 11” x 18.5”; the MCNY invitation measures 5” x 7”; and Cooper Union cards measure 4'“ x 9” each. Price is for the group of four items.
