Serge Mouille Luminaires: 'Le Regard D'Alan' Editions
Catalog of Serge Mouille lighting designs edited (produced) by Alan Grizot in 1993, following the success of his landmark 1991 L’Regard d’Alan auction with Binoche et Godeau, which helped usher Mouille back into blue-chip status. The present catalog illustrates and documents the minimal, functional, and quietly expressive designs of Mouille. Divided into two sections: one for the first generation of mobiles and stabiles in black (outside) and white (inside); and one for the second generation of columns. Included are now-iconic models such as Three-Arm Standard Lamp, Eyes, Sconces with Movable Arms, Three-Arm Ceiling Lamp, Sconces with 5-or7-Arms, Flames, Snail, Saturnus on foot, Tripod Lamp, Simple Lamp, Conches, Signal, and Totem. Grizot, an early champion and personal friend of Mouille, reissued these designs in faithfully produced, limited and numbered series. Each entry in the catalog includes a photographic image along with a description, measurements, exhibition history, bibliography, and number in the edition. 4to (8.25” x 9.5”), photographic wrappers, 88 unnumbered pages, b/w and some color illustrations including photos and line drawings. Text in French and English. An important reference source in the Mouille canon. Light bumping and rubbing to extremities, with minor chipping to corners.
