Svenskt Tenn, Strandvagen 5, Stockholm: samtliga mobler och textiler
Svenskt Tenn catalog featuring the furniture, lighting, and botanical-print textile and wallpaper designs of in-house architect/designer Josef Frank. Published in the early 1950’s, the catalog showcases Frank’s expressive use of boldly contrasting materials, colors, and patterns in both individual designs and interior settings. Frank was a prominent Vienna Secession designer, interior designer and architect who emigrated to Sweden in 1934, escaping the rising anti-semitism of his native city. His phenomenally successful artistic collaboration with Svenskt Tenn department store proprietress Estrid Ericson, begun in 1934, came to define the concept of Swedish Modern and to greatly influence postwar Swedish design. 8vo, printed wallpaper wrappers, 50 unnumbered pages, chiefly b/w illustrations. Front hinge split; binding otherwise sound. Light bumping and chipping to mildly rubbed dj.
