$180.00

First edition monograph on the noted Italian postmodernist artist, architect, designer and educator Ugo La Pietra, proponent of Italian Radical Design and founding member in 1973 of Global Tools. Published in 1991 in Barcelona by Editorial Gustavo Gili as part of their Monographs on Contemporary Design series. The book tracks the dialogue in La Pietra’s experimental oeuvre between object and environment and between work of art and product. In his own words, “By means of exhibitions, research, and above all the renewed rapport between project and production, I have brought back into circulation a quantity of energy sufficient to contribute decisively to the development of design in Italy today.” It is divided into three main sections: Introductory texts by Pierre Restany and Maurizio Vista and an essay tilted 1960-1990: Thirty years of experimental research by La Pietra; Works produced between 1979 and 1990; and Index of works and projects 1965-1990. 4to (8.5” x 9.5”), printed wrappers, 94 pages with b/w and color illustrations throughout. Text in English and Spanish. Hinges weakened. Minor bumping and light rubbing to extremities.
